Artist Statement

Adam’s practice is a response to contemporary art practices viewed from the country, region, town or city he currently resides. He explores the experience living and working in different places, researching the history and culture of the area, observing areas concerning entropy, environments, landscapes and mapping reality through the effects of weathering, erosion, layering, deconstruction and time. Through philosophical ideas explored through his practice, Adam explores the role of  inter-connective realities via images, thoughts, culture, history, mythology and language, exploring forms of painting, drawing, installation and sculptural elements in response to the past, the moment and their connections to our sense of ‘Identity and Relationship’.

During research garnered in Cyprus and Spain, Adam has been exploring ideas involving Zen and Pilgrimage through mapping journeys he has taken, re-translating into multi-layered drawings and sculptural beings, inspired by the role of trails, meditation, walking, history, cultural influences from other cultures, technology, and art.
